This cottage on a quiet, lovely street in Glen Park needed some serious updating.  I was given carte blanche to create a Design Program for this young-at-heart retired couple that like to travel and entertain.  I went to my library and studied up on Billy Baldwin ( Jackie Kennedy's Decorator ) to create this clean, cool and sophisticated space that is also warm and refreshing.  Precision application of visual and tactile textures, patterns that concentrate and dissolve compliment the elegant lines of the furnishings.

The softer side of Modern.  Note the composition of bold shapes and the use of soft colors and floral textiles; making this Master Suite a studied balance of dynamic strength and peaceful comfort.

Town & Country; urban sophistication in a country environment.
Granite counters, madrone wood facing on custom cabinets and ultra-modern fixtures. Harmony rarely achieved in a contemporary kitchen.

It was time to bring this kitchen into the 21st Century, while still retaining the charming cottage style of this particular type of this residence.

AFTER- do I really need to say more?

New and improved.
New paint, cabinet knobs and appliances reinvigorates
this traditional kitchen. The high contrast color scheme
achieves the goal without major construction.

A concert of materials, organic shapes and architectural features create a serene and plush environment for the ritual of bathing. An unexpected use of familiar elements enhances and invigorates the body and soul.

This clients exotic travels are reflected with exciting colors and bold graphics. The artwork is by South African artist Nicholas Hale.

A mix of period styles, refreshing color and whimsical patterns are always in style.

It had good bones...
By removing unnecessary soffits and a pony wall, this Master Bath really opened up.
The smooth polished icy white marble shower enclosure
is punctuated with honed mosaic accents to create dimension.

In contrast to the smooth icy white marble in the shower,
a very textured slate in shades of greens, gold's, and black
is used for the floor.

The vanity with a dimensional stain, polished black granite countertop and sink enhance the sensory experience.
The textural drama is obvious, deliberate and sublime.
